AUTUMN SPA & SHERLOCK THEMES FOR OCTOBER

 June 10th 1921 - April 9th 2021

Born in Corfu to Prince Andrew and Princess Alice in 1921, Prince Philip was born the Prince of Greece and of Denmark. A former naval officer, it was while the Prince was training as a cadet that he met the then teenage Princess Elizabeth. The couple were married on November 20th 1947 at Westminster Abbey and remained devoted to each other for over sixty years, during which Princess Elizabeth was coronated Queen, and Prince Philip became the Duke of Edinburgh, Britain's longest serving Royal Consort.

The Duke leaves behind four children, Anne, Charles, Andrew and Edward, as well as his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Much celebrated for his mischievous character, the Duke did however undertake his royal duties seriously.Unfailingly at the Queen's side and a patron of over eight hundred organisations, he is perhaps best known for his commitment to the welfare of young people via the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme to which he gave his name.

A Royal presence who will be greatly missed. May he Rest in Peace.
